Moguls In The Making

Jay Thompson Interviewing CEO of For The Leaux

Victor Madu is a college student at University of Texas at San Antonio from Southwest Alief, Texas. He is the 21 year old CEO of For The Leaux clothing company as well as MVAMAGAZINE, a platform used to promote talent. With his tenacity, and a genuine love for what he does, Vic has built a rapidly growing clothing company that has grabbed an immense amount of attention. "I personally feel like you have to try to change the whole world in one day every single day."  This quote has motivated Victor and solidifies him as a mogul in the making.

Q: Where do you see yourself in five years?

A: In five years, I see my self being an entrepreneur and/or mogul. I also see myself owning multiple business including running my own magazine and opening For The Leaux clothing stores in every major city: New York, Los Angeles, and have the largest of them all be in Houston, Texas.

Q: What can we expect next for your clothing line?

A: Right now, I'm getting the spring line together. I'm working on some athletic gear and swimwear for both males and females to sport during spring break and the summer time. We're going to have something like last year's line but with a twist.

Q: So far, what has been your most memorable moment involving your company?

A: I remember I was at the rec and I got a call from one of my friends. They told me that Todd Gurley (NFL running back for the Los Angels Rams) was wearing my hoodie. It was such a surreal moment.

Q:What is your greatest motivation?

A: My greatest motivation is my passion and my drive. I feel like people get into the business for the wrong reasons, but I know that my intentions are pure and that I'm focused on reaching my goals.

Q: What inspires you to make the clothing that you put out?

A: I've been around street fashion since high school, so my inspiration comes from things I've seen at school or things in the past or just day to day things. The O.G For The Leaux hoodie came to me in a dream. I woke up out of my sleep the next day and put it into production.

Q: Does your job ever get overwhelming or take away from your education?

A: Honestly, yes the job does get very overwhelming and stressful and sometimes it does take away from my school work, but that is part of the sacrifice I have to make to get where I want to be.

Q: How important is Your FTL team?

A: They are very important. Without them, this would be impossible. One person trying to handle all of the orders, emails, and the constant growing demand would be impossible.

Q: How does it feel raising a business out of Alief, TX to now having it sell globally?

A: It feels amazing and almost unreal. I'm trying to get used to it now and remain humble so that as the company continues to grow, I'm used to it and know how to handle it.

Q: Lastly, do you have any advice for the youth trying to get into the fashion/designing industry?

A: The most important thing is to be genuine. People tend to fail in this business because they get into it for the wrong reasons. So whatever it is, make sure that you are passionate about it

Chris Nero

Jay Thompson Interviews an upcoming rapper

I make music meant to marinate in the soul. It's not meant to be trendy-- it's meant to be felt. The music could resemble conscious at times with the message I'm trying to portray or when I'm feeling hyper, it could be an adrenaline rush, a euphoric bliss of happiness. My music resembles my life and who I am-- Chris Nero.

Q: Where are you from?

A: I'm from Texas, I don't want people to box me in so I represent Texas as a whole.

Q: How do you separate yourself from other artists?

A: I'm not in a rush to make something popular. I want to make something that touches hearts. I want to make classics.

Q: Who influenced your style?

A: I wouldn't say anyone in particular influenced me. I kinda see what's popular and then add my own twist to it and make it my own.

Q: What has been the highlight of your career so far?

A: When I got an Elevator review it made me feel good. It made me feel like I didn't need Soundcloud clout.

Q: Whats one goal of yours as a rapper?

A: A Grammy; I'll be okay with just one Grammy.

Q: Any rapper dead or alive you want to make music with?

A: Michael Jackson and Lil Uzi. I really just wanna see how they work.

Q:  At what moment did you know that you had to be successful?

A: When I realized nobody else wanted me to. No one a hundred percent of the time wanted me successful, so I knew I had to be.

Q: What inspired your music?

A:  My emotions. I speak about what I'm going through and people can relate to it.

Q: Who do you want to influence with your music?

A: I want don't want to influence anyone in particular. I just want to influence the world kind of like Michael Jackson.

Q: Who are your top 5 rappers?

A: Eminem, Biggie, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, and Drake.

Q:  Current favorite song?

A: Playboi Carti x In My Car

Q: In what ways has your newest music changed from when you first started?

A: I'm not moving and mastering anymore. I've been learning new things like vocal techniques.

Q: What would be your dream performance?

A: Drive from 12600 Dairy Ashford to NRG stadium to headline my own show.

Q: Any advice for up coming rappers?

A: Do what you have to do to get where you want to be. Don't put too much trust into anyone; trust your gut because at the end of the day all you got is you.
